About Angarsk
The date of foundation of Angarsk is 30th of May, 1951
In 2001 Angarsk celebrated 50th anniversary. It is one of the biggest industrial centers in the Eastern Siberia. Nowadays Angarsk has 92.5 thousand hectares. The population of Angarsk is 281.2 thousand.
Angarsk oil-chemical company (joint-stock company "ANHK") takes one of the first places for the volume of oil and it produces hundreds of oil products, oil-chemical products, consumer goods. The volume of production is about 30 % of the volume of industrial production in the region. Chemical industry in Angarsk is represented by electrolysis chemical factory ("AEHK").
There are three big heating electric stations, which provide big enterprises of machinery building and metal processing: the biggest in Siberia electric-mechanical factory, Meghetsky factory of metal goods, joint-stock company "Kitoyles". Light and food industries are rather developed: garment factory, meat processing, milk, bread factories, and poultry farm.
Scientific institutions of Angarsk make a big contribution to the development of Russian science: Angarsk department of institute of biology and physics N5, institute of medicine of labor and ecology. There is a net of medical centers, and medical treatment of jaw hospital is famous not only in Russia, but also abroad (for example in Japan).
There are three sanatoriums in Angarsk with modern equipment which help Angarsk people treat and improve health.
Children go to 49 schools. Further education is provided by Angarsk Sate technological institute, Angarsk department of Russian-Asian Humanitarian University, pedagogical and medical colleges, and three technical schools. Different applied technical professions care taught in technical schools of Angarsk.
Angarsk people spend their free time in four big palaces of culture, in which there are a national theater, chorus, dancing ensembles. There is a literary society in Angarsk. There is a possibility to attend additional education in schools of arts. There are 7 schools: 5 schools of arts and 2 children’s schools of arts in which 3000 of children study every year.
The pride of the city is city museum of clocks. You can find a unique collection of clocks, they are different: ancient and super modern. The collection includes 1100 clocks. There is an exposition of minerals collected by the workers of "Orstroyproject". In this collection there are different minerals and souvenirs. Museum of Victory keeps memory about people killed during the Greta Patriotic War.
The central library system includes a net of libraries and reading halls. Among them you may find technical, school, historical, children's literature.
Angarsk is located about 40 km from the regional centre and has all kinds of transport: railway, air, water. Angarsk established relations with many foreign partners. Angarsk has many opportunities and all necessary bases for development. It has a developed industrial sector, scientific and technical, labor potential, a favorable geographical location.
