Abakan is situated in the central part of Michurinsk foundation pit, on the left bank of the Yenisei, 4218 km from Moscow to the east. Railway station. Airport. Arboretum. Zoo.

History in brief:

In 1675 Abakan stockaded town (Abakansk) was built near the mouth of the Abakan river. In 1870 village Ust-Abakan appeared.
In 1931 city Abakan.

Abakan is an industrial, cultural and scientific centre of Khakassia.
Factories: experimental-mechanical, steel mill, container, etc.
