1675 - Abakan stockaded town was built, on the place of which the village Ust-Abakan appeared (Abakan city)

1822 - the village Ust-Abakan became an administrative centre of Kachinskaya Duma

1859 – a parish was founded in the village Ust-Abakan

1861-1864 – construction of the church building in Ust-Abakan

1863 – the first school was opened in Ust-Abakan

1874 – the first public library was organized

1912 - Abakan board was reorganized into Abakan province with the centre in Ust-Abakan

1914 – first buildings of the station of Abakan were built (three kms from Ust-Abakan)

14 Nov., 1923 – the presidium of the Central Committee adopted the decree about apportionment of areas with Khakass people into Khakass district with the centre in the village Ust-Abakan

25 May, 1925 – the village Ust-Abakan became am administrative centre of Khakass district

Nov., 1925 – Abakan railway station was opened and the railway Achinsk-Abakan began working

1925 – a library was opened (The National Library named by N.G. Domozhakov of Khakassia)

1926 – the first post office was opened

1926 – the telephone station for 10 numbers was installed

1926 – the first electric power station was built in the village Ust-Abakan

1928 – Khakass publishing house was opened (‘Ayra”)

1929 – Abakan museum was opened due to help of the society of local lore

1929 – the first special secondary establishment was opened - a Pedagogical technical school (Pedagogical College)

20 Oct., 1930 – the presidium of the Central Committee made decision about reconstruction of Khakass district into Khakass Autonomous region

3 Nov., 1930 - the first issue of the newspaper “Soviet Khakassia” (“Khakassia”) was published

1930 - the first secondary school was opened

20 Jan., 1931 – according to the decree of the Presidium of the Central Committee the village Ust-Abakan was renamed into Abakan city

March, 1931 – the decision to open Museum of local lore was made

1945 – Abakan confectioner factory was opened

1945 – burial places of people who lived in the beginning of the second millennium B.C. were discovered on the territory of Abakan city

1948 – a machinery factory began working

1948 – an automatic telephone station was installed

1949 – Khakass department of the union of writers was opened
